School Programs

 

The AFL is pleased to offer your school a comprehensive range of participation programs, competitions and engagement opportunities to connect your students with Australia’s great game of Australian Rules Football and deepen their engagement in fun, safe and inclusive learning environments.

Pre-School Programs

 

Kinderkick is a cross-body motor skills program for boys & girls aged 3-5. Our trained staff will come out to your centre to run your program for three weeks with each participant learning a variety of new movements, ball skills and games all in a fun and engaging environment.

Each participant will receive their own football at the end of the program which they get to name and an end of program certificate. This program is at a cost of $15 per participant.

Primary School Programs

Sporting Schools Program

The AFL is an approved deliverer of the Australian Sports Commission Sporting Schools funding initiative to drive sporting participation in schools. Our programs are based off student age and skill level.

After School Centre

Based on the extremely successful NAB AFL Auskick model, this intense 4-week clinic-based curriculum will dramatically improve participant abilities in core AFL skills, as well as game sense activities connected for our elite AFL teams. They are run on school grounds by trained AFL staff.

This program costs $46 per participant (paid by the participant) with each participant receiving their own After School Pack including a football, pump, hat, football cards & boom box to play their favourite songs!

Secondary School Programs

Next Gen Leaders – Coaching & Umpiring Program

Building our next next generation leaders is something we are passionate about. Our Next Gen Leaders program is based around building coaching & umpiring capacities in students through both practical and theory based learning. Each student will receive a Level 0 Coaching & Level 0 Umpiring at the completion of the program which is 2 sessions plus 1 interactive session. Their interactive session can be a coaching session at a local primary school, assisting at a primary gala day or Auskick program. This program is $15 per participant.

We also offer our Sporting Schools Program in the Secondary School Space.

2020 Canberra Primary Schools Cup

The 2020 Canberra Primary Schools Cup is back and it’s going to be another great year of primary school footy! Please see below details of the 2020 season and our team registration link below.

2020 Dates:
North/Gungahlin – Tue 3rd March, Amaroo Ovals
Belconnen – Wed 11th March, Kippax Ovals
South/Weston – Fri 13th March, Hughes Ovals
Tuggeranong – Thu 5th March, Kambah Ovals
Queanbeyan – Thu 27th Feb, Allinsure

Cost per team – $30, 2 = $50, 3 = $60

2020 Canberra Secondary Schools Cup

Our 2020 AFL Canberra Secondary Schools Cup will be another great year of footy for the high school & college students across the ACT & Queanbeyan.

2020 Dates:
Year 7 & 8 Boys – Wed 27 May, Kippax Ovals
Year 7 & 8 Girls – Wed 9th Apr, Reid Ovals
Year 9 & 10 Boys – Wed 10th June, Kippax Ovals
Year 9 & 10 Girls – Thu 2nd Apr, Hughes Ovals
Armstrong Cup (11/12 Boys) – Tue 12th May, Kippax
O’Dea Cup (11/12 Girls) – Thu 14th May, Hughes

Our 2020 team prices are listed below. These costs cover ground hire, staff, first-aid and equipment.

Teacher TQI Coaching Course

The 2020 AFL Canberra Teacher TQI Coaching Course will focus on developing teachers coaching attributes through a mix of theoretical and practical resources. The course will run for 3 hours with teachers learning the main elements of the game, the basic philosophies of coaching and will then work through a practical implementation of various AFL games and skills. Each participant in the program will be invited to couple the Level 1 AFL Coaching Course online to round out their knowledge.
